It's Thursday

The thing I asked for from Jeff for my anniversary gift was to spruce up my craft room. It desperately needs a coat of paint....it's so dingy right now. I originally tried to talk him into:

removing the popcorn ceiling
removing the carpet and installing a laminate flooring
removing the "builders basic" trim and replacing that with real wood trim
replacing the light fixture so I have better light
and then paint

After thinking about it and keeping in mind of the upcoming holidays, I decided to compromise and just go with the paint. He's promised me that this can be done next summer when we remodel the whole upstairs. I forget how time consuming and labor intensive it is to do all of the things listed not to mention the money that we just don't have right now. And with the DT stuff I've got going on, I need my room to not be in shambles like our living room was for 3 weeks.

I'm trying to do a little organizing and purging as I clean my room out. It's a very slow process folks. I can't believe the amount of stuff I've accumulated over the years. Why would I buy all these papers to NOT use them. That's the downfall of all the new stuff that constantly comes out. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of the new. It inspires me. But then my old stuff gets neglected and then a year goes by and that certain paper or embelie isn't my style anymore. This has made me more selective when I'm shopping for supplies. I only buy 1 sheet of p.p. instead of 2 and if I really like that paper, I will go buy another sheet but only if I've used the one before. I don't buy very many embelies anymore. I get a lot of various things from kits. Things like buttons is something I'll always use but still don't buy. When my lss get a line in, my old self would buy one of everything. Not anymore.

The photo above was something I did the other night. I didn't feel like scrapping but I wanted to be around my scrap stuff. All these items were thrown in a vintage glass relish bowl. When it gets to the point of overflow, I like to clean it out for the next batch of odds and ends. Whenever I scrap, I get to a point where I want to start adding bits and pieces. I pull out my dish and rummage through the smallest bits of paper and randoms to find the perfect piece that finishes off my layout.

So I will have a give away soon. But I want to let you know that a lot of this stuff will be older product...perfect for a newbie. If you're interested, email me.

I'm was inspired by her to not gripe about work in this post. If I didn't see her recent post on this issue, you would probably be reading about how sh*tty my work week is going. So thanks Natalie for making me re-assure myself that life isn't about the crap that goes on at work or the people that want to make your life hell.

au revoir!

Oh, one last thing.....Michelle/scrapcouture....do you have a blog you update? I keep trying to track you down to return the love you leave me daily.

Awww, yay! I'm happy to have helped. It is an obvious fact that I hate my job. But when I really start thinking about it... If I didn't have a job, I wouldn't be able to pay for my hobbies/creative outlets/things that make me happy. Don't let the man get you down. =) p.s. Loving the idea of remodeling the crafty sanctuary.

Email me and I'll send you that killer lasagna recipe. nataliezgarcia@gmail.com.

Here is what you do!

1. Paint the room - check out Home Depot in the cheap section of mismatch paints. I find lots of cool CHEAP colours that I change regularly. Mix it up. Do three walls one colour one wall WOW.

2. Get a GREAT light. Light makes life better especially in dark wintery lands.

3. PUT UP A GIANT tack board. I used big piece of wrecked GypRock and painted it one solid colour. I pin stuff to it. Tack up BIG posters. COVER IT and your junk and inspiration will be contained to ONE PLACE.

GO! Go! Go! You can get the painting done in one weekend for SURE.

wow, you are a lot more organized than I am! I hear you about the painting thing. I've lived in my house for 2 years and I don't think I can take white walls anymore! And girl, don't let them get you down, cause in the end, it's not gonna matter what they think or say. You are fabulous. and thanks for wanting to stop by my blog it's http://scrapcouture.typepad.com.

I'd like to have your leftover stuff, even if it's old! :) I do realize I live in Brazil and that is an expensive shipping (I'm guessing), so I won't be upset if I'm not even considered. Lol!
Oh, and love your tray of goodies! I just click on it and see the larger pic. So cool!
